May 8, 2025Rep. Comer Drops Bombshell on Epstein Files, Accuses Federal Agencies of Cover-Up
Rep. James Comer isn’t holding back. The House Oversight Chairman has launched serious accusations against federal agencies, suggesting they may have intentionally destroyed evidence related to Jeffrey Epstein’s international sex trafficking operation—and potentially played a role in the crimes themselves. As public outrage mounts, Comer is calling on the President and Attorney General to apply maximum pressure to force transparency from the so-called “deep state.”
Shredded Evidence and DOJ Stonewalling
According to Comer, federal agencies may be actively obstructing justice by concealing or destroying key Epstein-related documents. These concerns escalated following direct orders from both President Trump and Attorney General Kris Kobach to declassify the files. So far, the Department of Justice has failed to comply.
“I hope they’re not shredding documents right now,” Comer warned. “My fear… is that they’re probably in there shredding documents as we speak.” He pointed to past experiences dealing with unelected bureaucrats as evidence of widespread corruption within what he calls the “deep state apparatus.”

Comer’s remarks imply a coordinated effort by federal agencies to shield themselves from accountability, suggesting they may be more concerned with self-preservation than exposing Epstein’s powerful associates or protecting victims.
Bipartisan Frustration and Government Resistance
The stonewalling isn’t going unnoticed by others in Congress. Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, who chairs the Task Force on the Declassification of Federal Secrets, has reportedly encountered constant resistance in her attempts to access the Epstein files. Despite a presidential directive, the agencies involved continue to delay.

“She’s frustrated these files haven’t been released,” Comer stated. “Even though the President and Attorney General have ordered them released, we still don’t have them.” He added that this is more than bureaucratic dysfunction—it’s intentional obstruction by agencies that fear exposure.
Comer says the expected norm is for agencies to preserve records for future administrations, but added bluntly, “It hasn’t worked with this deep state.”
Was the Government Complicit?
Comer dropped his most explosive claim when he raised the possibility that federal agencies were not just negligent—but complicit in Epstein’s operations. “Was the government using Epstein and the videos to blackmail the most influential people around the world?” he asked, suggesting this could explain the extreme secrecy.
He dismissed the idea that this is about protecting individuals like the Clintons. “If the government covers this up, I don’t believe it’s because of any love affair or affection for the Clinton family,” he said. “It’s because they didn’t want their agencies to be disrupted.”
The implications are staggering: if U.S. agencies were aware of Epstein’s crimes and did nothing, they weren’t just observers—they were enablers. “The American people would not be okay if the government knew that crimes against young women were occurring, and yet they did nothing to intervene,” Comer declared.
