Americans don’t trust the NIH anymore, and with good reason. The agency was engaged in questionable research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, tried to keep doctors who were using existing antiviral drugs to treat COVID from sharing their results, and was using much of its funding to pay for administrative overhead costs.
