August 1, 2025What the 2026 Midterm Results Do Not Mean
It is part of the normal cycle of politics for midterm elections to swing the other way from the incumbent party. Even though this is a normal occurrence, the party outside of governmental control claims that the midterm election results indicate the country loves them and is mad at the incumbents. Both parties do it every time and use it as a springboard to launch the next presidential election campaign.
The two major parties either know or they don’t that the midterm elections and the presidential elections are apples and oranges and are two different animals that have no relation. The midterms are about local elections that mean things to the base of the party and not the whole party. Presidential elections are about everyone and what they think of one of two people.
So, if the Democrats get control of the House of Representatives, the Senate, or both, all that means is that local elections around the country went Democrat by happenstance because that is the normal cyclical nature of the midterms. It is not a piece of Play-Doh to mold into whatever shape or message the party wants at the time. In other words, if the Democrat Party wins the 2026 midterm elections, it means nothing.
However, if the Republican Party wins the 2026 midterm elections, that is out of the norm, and that has meaning. What that means is that throughout the country, the majority of local districts are still angry and repulsed by the Democrats, just like the nationwide voters of the last presidential election. Since the Democrat Party is still in denial of the last presidential election results, is currently under a hostile takeover by progressives, and has never had an introspective self-declaration or political autopsy, they will just keep losing ground with the voters. It does not mean the Republicans are doing so good, it means the Democrats are doing badly.
