August 11, 2025Democrat Party’s Collapse and Washington’s Warning
The steep decline in the Democrat Party’s approval rating is not merely a temporary political setback; it is a profound symptom of a self-inflicted prophecy. The party’s struggles, as reflected in recent polling, suggest a fundamental disconnect between its leadership and the American electorate. Rather than speaking to the nation as a whole, the Democrat Party is increasingly perceived as talking only to itself, a closed loop of internal dialogue that has left a broad swath of voters feeling unheard and pissed off. This insular focus on party over country is precisely the dangerous dynamic that the nation’s first president, George Washington, so sternly warned against, believing that such factionalism would ultimately subvert the public good.
This inward-looking approach directly mirrors the very dangers George Washington outlined in his Farewell Address. In his seminal 1796 speech, Washington spoke with great foresight and gravity about the “baneful effects of the spirit of party.” He did not view political factions as a healthy part of a Democrat system, but rather as “potent engines” through which “cunning, ambitious, and unprincipled men will be enabled to subvert the power of the people.”
Washington feared that such parties would inevitably place their interests and quest for power above the national interest, creating a “frightful despotism” of one faction over another. He was convinced that partisans would be “partial,” favoring the interests of their “parochial group over the public good” and that loyalty to the party would replace the “common good” as the guiding principle for a citizen’s vote.
When the Democrat Party’s leadership is seen as prioritizing internal unity and ideological purity over a broader appeal on kitchen-table issues, it is fulfilling Washington’s prophecy. By failing to “meet voters where they are,” as some Democrat strategists have acknowledged, the party has created a self-reinforcing cycle of alienation. The disconnect deepens, approval ratings plummet, and the party’s attempts to recover are often interpreted through the very lens of partisanship that Washington condemned.
The public is left with the distinct impression that a political entity is more concerned with its own survival and internal squabbles than with the nation’s welfare. In this, the Democrat Party serves as a living example of the very dangers our first ” Nostradamic” president warned against. By allowing the “spirit of party” to dictate its actions and its message, it has risked its political future and, more importantly, its ability to effectively serve the country. The Democrat Party is a mess.
