Utah’s Immigration Dilemma: The Case Stirring Safety Concerns
May 1, 2025Trump 2028 Freezes MAGA Primary
Two things will destroy Republicans’ success for the presidency in 2028, and they all lie at the feet of President Donald Trump. One: any talk of Trump 2028 freezes out the Republican Primary for MAGA’s next-generation leaders. Two: if Trump stops the 2028 talk, and efforts by Steve Bannon and others, and anoints someone of his choosing, then it does not give the America First movement a chance to pick Trump’s successor.
These two things will determine whether MAGA was just a thing that happened in the Trump era or whether it was a movement with legs that lasted long into the future. For the America First movement to last, it has to be able to pick its next leader of the movement after Trump. Republicans have an incredible bench of talented people who could lead this movement into the future. A Trump coronation would destroy the movement, split the vote, and certainly put Democrats back into the White House to reverse all the momentum that MAGA has created to fundamentally change the direction of America’s future.
Steve Bannon publicly said that he and others will lay out a plan for Trump 2028 around the time of the midterms. Steve promises that on January 20th, 2029, President Trump will be sworn in as president again. The midterms are the time that anyone who wants to run for president on the Republican side needs to get started with their campaigning. Bannon’s plan would wreak havoc on the future of MAGA. I say this as a huge Steve Bannon fan.
Ron DeSantis, J.D. Vance, Marco Rubio, and so many others should be able to battle one another for the privilege of leading the Movement Donald Trump started. Democrats blocked their primary and appointed someone, and that failed. If Republicans try that, it will also fail. America does not like a coronation, they like to pick, we like to vote.
Trump needs to snuff out any talk or actions surrounding the concept of Trump 2028 now and be clear about it. Donald also needs to say he will stay out of the primary and not put his finger on the scales. If Donald wants to be the Godfather of a movement that has a lasting presence, he needs to do these two things. Short of that is a legacy of Donald Trump that will only signify a particular decade in time.
