Yet this quote encapsulates something deeper when you consider whether a nation is a country without borders. The anxiety over demographic change that is forced upon the population without their consent is clear and present.

At the heart of Gutierrez’s quote lies the reality of unchecked mass immigration. The statement implies that Latino immigrants, particularly Mexican, will not assimilate, but rather overwrite the existing culture.
