February 4, 2025FBI Agents Stage Unprecedented Protest Amidst Leadership Turmoil in D.C.
The FBI is facing internal turmoil as agents plan a protest at the agency’s Washington D.C. headquarters. This unprecedented move comes amid sweeping leadership changes and growing dissatisfaction within the bureau. What role does the pending confirmation of Kash Patel as FBI Director play in this situation?
Mass Exodus of FBI Leadership
Former FBI Agent Kyle Seraphin has reported that all Executive Assistant Directors (EADs) were given an ultimatum to resign by February 3rd or face termination. This directive affects six high-ranking officials positioned directly below the Director, Deputy Director, and Associate Deputy Director.
The leadership purge extends beyond the EADs, with approximately 25 Special Agents in Charge reportedly receiving the same ultimatum. This decision impacts nearly half of the FBI’s 55 Field Offices across the country.

Controversy Surrounding January 6th Investigations
Adding to the internal strife, an email from acting Director Brian Driscoll requested each field office to submit a list of personnel involved in January 6th investigations by February 4th. This move has raised concerns about potential retaliation against agents involved in these sensitive cases.
Despite this directive, reports indicate that Driscoll has refused to disclose the names of officials involved in both the January 6th and Trump-related investigations. This apparent contradiction has further fueled tensions within the bureau.

Agents Plan Protest Amid Leadership Vacuum
As the FBI grapples with these internal challenges, Brian Driscoll serves as Acting FBI Director while Trump nominee Kash Patel awaits confirmation. The leadership vacuum has contributed to the growing unrest among agents.
CNN has reported that “at least six FBI leaders” were removed or told to resign by Monday, underscoring the scale of the shakeup. President Trump’s recent actions, including firing the head of the FBI Washington Field Office, David Sundberg, and 20 other office heads, have intensified the situation.
In response to these developments, reports suggest that FBI agents are planning a protest at the Washington D.C. headquarters. This unprecedented move highlights the depth of dissatisfaction within the agency and raises questions about potential violations of the Hatch Act.
