Trump’s Love and Hate with the Media

President Trump’s hatred for the mainstream media goes way back, long before he even gave real thought to ever running for the presidency. In the 1970’s, Trump and his father were portrayed in the press as some of  New York’s biggest slumlords. They were accused of refusing to rent to: “Black people” or those on welfare. The investigations and inquisitions playing out in the media in a negative light were a blow to a young egocentric Donald Trump and family.

Back in 1985, he complained to Mike Wallace on 60 Minutes about the press: “I believe they make me out to be something more sinister than I really am.” In other articles of the late eighties and early nineties, Trump was portrayed as a womanizer with a giant sized ego and lots of money. Always surrounding himself with beautiful women and limousines that clearly showed who was in the car with the personalized license plates that stated “DJT”, denying these accusations and declaring it as false accusations only driven by jealousy of his success.

Yet when his so called friend President Bill Clinton was being slammed in the media for his adultery and sexual harassment, Trump was on media outlets making light of the situation and showing his ‘ true bros before hoes’ womanizing nature. In a 1998 CNBC interview, Trump called Paula Jones a “loser” and that Bill Clinton was the actual victim. In a Fox News interview, he said “I don’t necessarily agree with his victims. His victims are terrible and he is really a victim himself, even though he put himself in that position.”

For someone who claims the media is “false news” or “making up stories for ratings” he sure loves to be in the limelight doing the media’s job for them. They do not need to make up stories when he is doing interviews in front of millions of viewers hearing it from his own mouth. Unless he would like to admit he was lying and his own words were “false news” clearly endorsed by Trump himself. We all know that will never happen.

Making headlines again during the 1990’s He went to war against Native Americans over casinos and taxes. Posing a threat to his gambling empire, Trump launch a racially charged campaign against the native population using the media that he hates so much to do it. It was said he secretly paid for more than $1 million in ads that portrayed members of a tribe in Upstate New York as cocaine traffickers and career criminals. Often insinuating they were either controlled by or part of the mafia. Telling media outlets and radio hosts That: “The dark-skinned Native Americans in Connecticut were faking their ancestry”, and during a 1993 radio interview with shock jock Don Imus, Trump was heard saying “I think I might have more Indian blood than a lot of the so-called Indians that are trying to open up the reservations.”

In 2011, Showing his bias of “black people” that started in the 1970’s and his hatred for Muslims, blaming 9/11, Donald Trump could not handle his “America”  being led by someone who represents two of the many racial hang-ups he has. So he launches ‘the birther movement’ against President Obama. Using the media at every turn, Trump constantly claims Obama’s a Muslim from Kenya not born in America.

On many occasions he told the media and using Twitter: “”He doesn’t have a birth certificate, or if he does, there’s something on that certificate that is very bad for him. Now, somebody told me — and I have no idea if this is bad for him or not, but perhaps it would be — that where it says ‘religion,’ it might have ‘Muslim.’ And if you’re a Muslim, you don’t change your religion, by the way.” Leaving some people at the time asking why is he so obsessed with Obama. The media answering the call of the people show negative stories from Trump’s past and the war with the media continues. Yet it did not stop him from using the media to get his point across.

In 2015, with a very bruised ego about having to admit to losing the birther argument against President Obama, barely making it through a black Muslim president, he was not going to take any chances on a “woman” being in power. He announces he will run in the presidential race. The media storm begins.

Sucking the media right into his orbit, taking full advantage of the opportunity to use them once again to advance his agenda, the man who was once quoted as saying, ”I really believe in trashing your enemies and staying loyal to your friends,”  will soon become disloyal to his ‘friend’ Hillary Clinton, trashing her gender and ethics. Bringing up how she handled her husband’s indiscretions, throwing their friendship in the trash like one of his used napkins found in a Trump Hotel/Casino.

Not stopping with trashing Hillary, he shows his prejudice again other races. Using his “false news media” he makes a speech in front of millions about the Mexicans/ Hispanic people. “Some are good and some are rapists and some are killers. We don’t even know what we’re getting.” Making it very clear that nobody is off limits on his list of dislikes and hatred.

In 2016, as president he launched a witch hunt and deported all Hispanic/Mexican people that were in the United States illegally even if they were upstanding citizens, separating children from parents and breaking up families. Then because of his giant egocentric brain could never fathom that anyone would see what he was doing as wrong, he blames the media for covering the whole thing in a negative light. Accusing them of twisting his meaning and actions to raise ratings.

No longer needing the media to advance his agenda he disregards them as “false news/liars” Just as he did with his friendship with the Clinton’s. So I have to ask President Trump, if the media is false news then was your whole campaign also false?
