Orange County sheriff’s officials are investigating a deputy-involved shooting in a neighborhood off Lee Road, just west of Interstate 4.
Deputies were called at 11:03 a.m. to a home on Malone Drive in the Kingswood neighborhood to reports of a burglary in progress, a sheriff’s spokeswoman said.
Online call records show Orlando police also responded to the home on Malone Drive at 11:10 a.m. after getting reports that an officer needed help.
Around the same time, several Orange County schools southwest of the neighborhood near College Park were placed on a lockdown, though officials won’t say if it is related to the deputy-involved shooting.
Details about what happened next haven’t been released, but the Sheriff’s Office is now calling the incident a deputy-involved shooting.
Residents in the College Park neighborhood received an automated call from Orlando police reporting two armed and dangerous robbery suspects in the area. The call told residents to stay inside their homes.
It’s unknown if anyone was injured in the shooting. No other information was immediately released.
Edgewater High School, College Park Middle School, Princeton Elementary School and Lake Silver Elementary School are under lock downs because of police activity, according to Orange County Public Schools spokeswoman Shari Bobinski.
Sheriff’s officials are expected to release additional details soon.
